This Dogg has his Lion Day
Snoop Dogg used to be Snoop Doggy Dogg and before that his original name was Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr. A mouthful indeed. Well, now he is reincarnated as Snoop Lion. He is a Rastafarian like the famous Bob Marley indeed he claims to be a reincarnation of Bob Marley in the flesh. A Rastafarian priest in Jamaica told the great rap singer that he was no dog; he was a Lion at heart. Thus the transformation.
His mom gave him the original Snoop name thinking he looked like the comic doggy Snoopy. He was a Crips gang member before he became famous under the guidance of Dr. Dre a mean Lion himself in the world of singing rap and backing eminent rappers like Eminem and Snoop Lion himself.
His obsession with canines created a rip roaring chartbuster in the debut album ‘Doggystyle’ in 1993. A year earlier Dogg with Dr. Dre had made a remarkable soundtrack for the movie Deep Cover starring Laurence Fishburne. This Dogg has been climbing since then and now he is a father figure for new singers and Dogg admits he is even called Uncle Dogg or Uncle Snoop.
Many of his works include the name Dogg including the tongue in cheek name ‘The DoggFather.’ He has made a name for himself as and actor and has a series of movies like Dogg After Dark to his credit.
The Snoopy Lion released what else? The Doggumentary in March 2011.
On July 20, 2012 he released a new single ‘La la la’ to commemorate his lionization. He certainly is a King in the land of Rap.
